Following his comeback for TSG Hoffenheim, national goalkeeper Oliver Baumann expressed his gratitude towards his wife. „I am very happy. I invested a lot. I must thank my wife. I was hardly home for the first ten days because I was constantly working hard on my recovery,“ said Baumann after Hoffenheim’s 1-0 victory against VfL Bochum, which helped the team distance itself from the relegation zone.
The 34-year-old goalkeeper sustained an injury during a Europa League match against Tottenham Hotspur, which resulted in a 2-3 defeat for Hoffenheim at home back in late January. „I had been dealing with an issue in my foot related to the plantar fascia and had been playing through it for some time. However, it never fully healed. Before the match against Tottenham, it shifted a bit, and then in the last situation, it became too much and tore,“ Baumann explained.
Despite his return to play, the captain of the Bundesliga side is not yet free from limitations. „I still have a tape and special insoles in my shoe. I have to thank everyone from the team and the club who helped me through this. Their support has been excellent,“ Baumann added regarding his left foot injury.
