Golf star Tiger Woods has suffered another severe injury. The 49-year-old announced that he has a rupture of the Achilles tendon in his left leg. The injury occurred during home training, where he experienced a „sharp pain.“ He has already undergone surgery. Dr. Charlton Stucken stated, „The operation went smoothly, and we expect a full recovery.“ However, there was no estimate on when Woods would be able to resume training or playing golf.
Limited Tournament Participation
Since his accident, Woods has only participated in a few tournaments. In September, he underwent back surgery to address compressed nerves in the lower spine. Following multiple surgeries and a severe car accident in February 2021, which resulted in multiple fractures in his right leg, Woods has restricted his participation to select tournaments.
Recent Performance and Season Conclusion
Woods faced a sporting debacle in July with an early exit at the British Open, subsequently announcing an early end to his season. He had registered for a PGA tournament in San Diego in February but did not compete due to the death of his mother.
