The 1. FC Nürnberg celebrated a highly fortunate win against Zweitliga newcomer Preußen Münster, largely thanks to an exceptional individual performance from Stefanos Tzimas. The team, coached by Miroslav Klose, triumphed with a score of 1-0 (0-0), surpassing Fortuna Düsseldorf in the league standings to secure eighth place.
The decisive goal came from substitute Lukas Schleimer in the 82nd minute, following excellent setup play from Tzimas, who is currently on loan to the club. The 19-year-old Greek talent was sold to the English Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion in the winter for ten million euros.
Münster’s Misfortune
Münster was closer to victory, especially in the second half, despite the lackluster performance. The visitors from Nürnberg struggled to make an impact in their 400th Zweitliga away match. Due to the Preußen’s poor efficiency, the situation is becoming critical for coach Sascha Hildmann’s team. With 23 points, Münster sits in 15th place, tied on points with Braunschweig in the relegation zone at 16th place. The SCP has won only one of their last seven matches, suffering five defeats during that stretch.
In a tumultuous stoppage time, referee Lars Erbst overturned a controversial hand penalty after reviewing the video footage. Before halftime, the 12,422 fans in attendance were left waiting for high-quality moments, as the match was heavily contested. Any real danger emerged primarily from set pieces.
