Manchester City suffers setback in title race against Nottingham

Manchester City faces another setback in their quest for Champions League qualification after losing 0-1 to Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.

Manchester City has received another blow in its fight for a Champions League spot. The star-studded team managed by Pep Guardiola lost the crucial match in the English Premier League against third-placed Nottingham Forest with a score of 0-1 (0-0). The winning goal was scored by former Leverkusen player Callum Hudson-Odoi in the 83rd minute.

Fifth Place Looms

With this victory, Nottingham has increased its lead over the reigning champions to four points. On Sunday, Chelsea could potentially push Manchester City down to fifth place, which would jeopardize their Champions League qualification, by winning against second-to-last placed Leicester City.

Aside from Hudson-Odoi’s goal, who had played 14 Bundesliga matches for Leverkusen in the 2022/2023 season, the match offered few highlights. The only chance for an equalizer came in injury time from Mateo Kovacic, whose shot narrowly missed the post.
