Lisa Buckwitz achieved a third-place finish at the World Cup final, which was sufficient for her to win the overall World Cup title in Monobob once again. The Potsdam athlete, representing BRC Thüringen, finished in Lillehammer with a time that was 0.16 seconds behind the victorious Australian, Breeana Walker, who claimed her second win of the season. Buckwitz’s time was just a hundredth of a second slower than second-placed Cynthia Appiah.
„I am super happy about winning the overall World Cup, it means a lot to me,“ said Buckwitz, who was slightly under the weather and noted that she had made some errors during her runs. World champion Laura Nolte finished in fifth place in the final World Cup race of the season, securing third place overall behind Walker, while Wiesbaden’s Kim Kalicki ended up in fourth place. „I didn’t perform well in the first run; there were too many mistakes. The second run was a bit better, but still not good enough,“ said the 26-year-old Nolte from BSC Winterberg.
