Marco Rose, the head coach of RB Leipzig, has expressed understanding regarding the ongoing discussions about his future. He acknowledged, „I am, of course, constantly evaluated, especially based on results. At the moment, we are not performing exceptionally well. Thus, it is clear that criticism and questions arise,“ he stated ahead of the DFB-Pokal quarter-final against VfL Wolfsburg on Wednesday evening.
In the Bundesliga, Leipzig has managed only one victory in their last seven matches, causing them to drop to sixth place in the standings. To qualify for the Champions League next season, RB needs to finish at least in the fourth position. The team is also expected to advance in the cup competition. Rose conveyed his determination, saying, „If I did not believe in this, I should not be sitting here. I believe we can make this season successful.“
In terms of player availability, Rose has minimal adjustments to make for the Wolfsburg match. Yussuf Poulsen will miss the game due to muscular issues, while Christoph Baumgartner is doubtful after developing a fever following the 2:2 draw against Heidenheim on Sunday. The last encounter with Wolfsburg took place at the end of November, where Leipzig suffered a record 1:5 defeat in the Bundesliga.
