Kobe Bryant’s Jersey Auctioned for Seven Million Dollars

Kobe Bryant’s Jersey Auctioned for Seven Million Dollars

A Kobe Bryant jersey has been auctioned in New York for approximately seven million dollars, setting a record for auctioned memorabilia from the basketball legend.

In a remarkable auction event, an early NBA jersey belonging to basketball icon Kobe Bryant sold in New York for around seven million dollars (over six million euros). The jersey, which Bryant wore during the mid-1990s, features the yellow colors of the Los Angeles Lakers and is marked with the number 8, as stated by the auction house Sotheby’s.

This particular jersey was previously auctioned in 2012 for 115,242 dollars. The identity of the buyer who purchased it for seven million dollars—an unprecedented amount for a Kobe Bryant memorabilia item—has not yet been disclosed.

Earlier in the auction, a red Michael Jordan jersey from the Chicago Bulls, worn by the now 62-year-old legend in the early 1980s, was sold for about four million dollars. Jerseys, shoes, and various other collectibles from the careers of legendary basketball players have frequently fetched high prices at auction.
