The DFB-Pokal semifinal clash between the women’s teams of Hamburger SV and Werder Bremen is set to break attendance records in Germany. According to HSV, over 48,000 tickets have already been sold for the match scheduled on March 23 at the Volksparkstadion.
The current record for a women’s football match in Germany stands at 44,808 spectators, which was achieved during the cup final on May 18, 2023, between VfL Wolfsburg and SC Freiburg, where Wolfsburg triumphed with a score of 4-1.
The number of attendees could increase further as ticket sales are still ongoing. The Volksparkstadion has a total capacity of 57,000 spectators. The highest attendance record for a women’s match globally remains the 91,648 fans who attended the UEFA Champions League match between FC Barcelona and VfL Wolfsburg in April 2022 at the sold-out Camp Nou.
