The FC Bayern football club has been imposed a hefty fine due to its fans igniting over 100 flares, sparklers, and smoke bombs during a key match against Borussia Dortmund last autumn. The German Football Association’s sports court has levied a fine of 100,000 Euros on the record champions, with one third of this amount permitted for use on safety or violence prevention measures. Bayern has accepted the ruling, making it legally binding.
On November 30, during the game at the Dortmund stadium, the pyrotechnic devices were set off in the guest block at the beginning of the match and again in the second half. The match did not need to be interrupted.
Additionally, Werder Bremen is facing a total fine of nearly 130,000 Euros for incidents involving their supporters across four different matches, as announced by the DFB.
