The Fischtown Pinguins, the runner-up from last season, have become the fifth team to qualify early for the playoff quarterfinals in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL). The Bremerhaven team secured their spot by winning a rescheduled match against Adler Mannheim with a score of 5:3 (1:2, 3:0, 1:1) on Tuesday.
With this victory, Bremerhaven has ensured that they will remain in the top six of the DEL standings, having played 48 out of 52 games in the regular season.
The remaining two quarterfinal participants will be determined in a qualification round starting March 9. Prior to Bremerhaven’s qualification, ERC Ingolstadt, Eisbären Berlin, Mannheim, and Red Bull München had already secured their playoff spots.
Since joining the DEL in 2016, Bremerhaven has reached the quarterfinals every year except for one, showcasing their consistent performance in the league.
