Eintracht Braunschweig achieved a vital win in the relegation battle of the 2. Fußball-Bundesliga. The Niedersachsen team won their home game against Darmstadt 98 with a score of 1:0 in front of 18,714 spectators. With this second consecutive victory, Eintracht improved to 21 points and climbed to 15th place in the standings. The decisive goal was scored by Lino Tempelmann in the 60th minute.
The guests from Hesse, having gone five games without a win and suffering three consecutive losses without scoring, initially focused on defensive stability before attempting to seek opportunities during counterattacks. Consequently, Eintracht had significantly more ball possession, but they failed to create notable chances.
After 30 minutes, the match gained momentum. First, Darmstadt’s Merveille Papela hit the crossbar in the 33rd minute, and then Braunschweig’s Rayan Philippe missed a chance in direct response, failing to beat Lilien goalkeeper Marcel Schuhen.
The start of the second half was also disjointed. However, Tempelmann’s unexpected goal gave Braunschweig the lead, as he scored with a powerful left-footed shot from the edge of the penalty area. A yellow-red card shown to Jean-Paul Boëtius just two minutes after the goal further favored the Niedersachsen. Darmstadt’s late offensive effort came too late to change the outcome.
