Injury Update from Bayern Munich
FC Bayern Munich will likely be without national player Aleksandar Pavlovic for an extended period. This was confirmed by Bayern’s sporting director Max Eberl following their 2-0 (0-0) victory in the Champions League round of 16 second leg against Bayer Leverkusen. Eberl stated, „He has undergone all the tests. He appears to have mononucleosis. And that takes some time to recover from.“
Previously, Bayern had referred to Pavlovic’s condition as a „stubborn infection,“ which has kept the 20-year-old midfielder sidelined until further notice. Pavlovic had also missed several weeks last autumn due to a broken collarbone.
Understanding Mononucleosis
Mononucleosis, often referred to as „mono,“ is caused by the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) and is primarily spread through saliva. The illness is typically characterized by symptoms such as fever, swollen lymph nodes, sore throat, and severe fatigue, which can persist for several weeks.
