Basketball-Euroleague

The basketball team of Alba Berlin has encountered yet another loss in the Euroleague. The Bundesliga team fell to the Serbian top team Partizan Belgrade with a score of 71:85 (34:40). With three matches remaining in the top-flight competition, Alba remains at the bottom of the standings. The leading scorers for Berlin were Matt Thomas with 16 points and Yanni Wetzell with 12.

Coach Pedro Calles was able to rely on the recently injured David McCormack and Justin Bean again. The game started off slow, with both teams struggling to find their shooting rhythm. The first quarter saw more missed shots than points scored.

Offensive struggles in the final quarter

However, Alba managed to keep pace and even took a slight lead, going ahead 20:13 at the beginning of the second quarter. Nevertheless, the hosts, featuring national player Isaac Bonga, started to find their game. The Serbians, fighting for playoff spots, began to hit their long-range shots, causing Alba to fall behind again before halftime.

The second half commenced much like the first, with both teams displaying a lack of flow and committing numerous errors. Alba’s deficit grew to double digits at 42:53. Despite their efforts, Alba managed to narrow the gap to 53:56 towards the end of the third quarter. However, they subsequently struggled offensively, allowing Belgrade to pull away decisively.
