RB Leipzig’s coach Zsolt Löw has come down hard on his team following a disappointing 0:4 defeat against Eintracht Frankfurt. „We failed collectively today,“ Löw stated after the match on the 31st matchday of the Bundesliga.
The 45-year-old did not hold back on self-criticism after the setback in the race for Champions League qualification. „When things don’t work out—tactically or if the team is not mentally prepared—then I am, of course, primarily responsible for that,“ he added.
Upcoming Challenge Against Bayern
As a result of SC Freiburg’s 1:0 victory over VfL Wolfsburg, RB Leipzig has slipped to fifth place in the standings. Currently, the team would not qualify for the prestigious Champions League, and their chances of participating in European competitions next season are at risk. Although they are only two points behind fourth place, their lead over seventh place is also precarious.
Next week, Leipzig will face FC Bayern Munich at home, who aim to secure the championship title against RB. „We have three matches left where we can still collect points. Naturally, it is not the easiest task to compete against Bayern Munich,“ Löw remarked. However, he is determined to fight for valuable points in the upcoming match.
