Despite the costly contract renewals of stars Jamal Musiala, Alphonso Davies, and Joshua Kimmich, Bayern Munich’s sports director Max Eberl remains focused on achieving salary savings. Eberl stated that a coordinated plan with the board and supervisory board exists, which spans across two summer transfer windows. He made these comments to the TV channel Sky during the Bundesliga match against Union Berlin.
Eberl emphasized the need for compromise, stating, „We already have a plan, but it is not something that can be implemented overnight.“ He acknowledged that he has faced significant contract renewals with players, indicating the complexities involved.
In addition to Musiala, Davies, and Kimmich, Eberl has also renewed the contract of former national goalkeeper Manuel Neuer. Furthermore, the contracts of Leroy Sané and Thomas Müller are set to expire this summer. Eberl remarked, „It is not just about continually acquiring new players. It is also about maintaining a balanced salary structure.“
