Ulm part ways with promotion coach Wörle

The SSV Ulm football club has parted ways with coach Thomas Wörle amid relegation struggles, appointing U19 coach Robert Lechleiter as interim head coach.

The SSV Ulm has announced the termination of its contract with coach Thomas Wörle, who led the team to promotion. This decision comes as the club faces relegation threats in the 2. Bundesliga. Until the end of the season, U19 coach Robert Lechleiter will take over training responsibilities, with the primary focus on ensuring the team avoids relegation. Assistant coach Max Knauer and fitness coach Christoph Zellner have also been released from their positions.

Markus Thiele, the managing director of the club, expressed the gravity of the situation, stating, “This is not a pleasant day for any of us. However, every club, every manager, and every coach encounters such circumstances. This does not reflect a lack of appreciation or anything similar. On the contrary, I thank Tom and his team for everything they have done for our club.”

Currently, Ulm sits second to last in the league, trailing the relegation playoff spot by four points. Out of the 25 matches played this season, the team has only secured three victories. Last season, Ulm made an impressive ascent from the Regionalliga, finishing as champions of the 3. Liga with a significant lead.
