Norwegian Ski Jumpers Lindvik and Forfang Disqualified at World Championships

Norwegian ski jumpers Marius Lindvik and Johann André Forfang were disqualified from the World Championships in Trondheim due to issues with their suits, leaving Slovenia's Domen Prevc as the champion.

Disqualification of Lindvik and Forfang

The International Ski Federation (FIS) has disqualified Norwegian ski jumpers Marius Lindvik and Johann André Forfang due to issues with their suits during the World Championships held in Trondheim. Lindvik originally secured a silver medal behind Slovenia’s Domen Prevc but has now been removed from the final standings. The same disqualification applies to Forfang.

Impact on Medal Standings

With the disqualification of the two Norwegians, Domen Prevc retains his title as World Champion, while Austria’s Jan Hörl and Japan’s Ryoyu Kobayashi have been awarded the silver and bronze medals, respectively. Philipp Raimund of Germany moves up to fifth place instead of seventh following the adjustments.

Protests and Allegations

Prior to the competition, Austria, Slovenia, and Poland called for the exclusion of the Norwegian athletes. This demand was triggered by a video that allegedly showed questionable modifications to the Norwegian suits. Austria’s Sports Director Florian Liegl stated, „One can no longer ensure that the Norwegian suits are compliant with regulations. We have lodged a protest along with Poland and Slovenia.“ The German Ski Association (DSV) did not participate in the protest but is also seeking clarification on the matter.

Investigation and Further Disqualifications

The FIS initially rejected the protest. Material inspector Christian Kathol confirmed on ARD before the event that all suits had been inspected and deemed correct. Following this, Kristoffer Eriksen Sundal was disqualified, and subsequently, Lindvik and Forfang faced the same fate after the competition concluded. Reports indicate that Austria, Slovenia, and Poland are also calling for the annulment of all other results involving Norwegian athletes at the World Championships.
