Borussia Dortmund Without Svensson Due to Knee Injury

Borussia Dortmund will have to cope without Daniel Svensson for the time being. The winter signing sustained a knee ligament injury during the 1-1 (1-0) draw against OSC Lille in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 on Tuesday night. The club announced this on Wednesday following a detailed examination.

As per the club’s statement, the Swedish defender is expected to miss the return leg next week in Lille, as well as Bundesliga matches on Saturday against FC Augsburg and on March 15 against RB Leipzig.

Svensson’s injury occurred when he was kicked in the heel by Lille’s André Gomes, causing him to twist awkwardly and requiring him to be substituted.
