For Bayer Leverkusen’s managing director Fernando Carro, the Champions League round of 16 match against FC Bayern Munich holds more significance than just the sporting competition. „This will once again bring enormous attention to our brand and our club culture. It’s not only about football – it’s about the ambitions and the growth of the entire club,“ Carro stated in a post on the professional networking platform LinkedIn.
Carro referred to these moments as pivotal in shaping the history of a club, as he looks forward to the intense and exciting weeks ahead. Regarding the German champions‘ chances of advancing to the quarter-finals of the prestigious tournament, he remarked, „Recently, we have looked strong in these encounters, but of course, we must respect their immense quality – as a team, as a club, and as a brand. We know what awaits us. We understand what is at stake, and we are very much looking forward to it.“
The first leg between the two Bundesliga teams will take place this Wednesday at 21:00 in Munich’s Allianz Arena, while the return leg will be held the following Tuesday in Leverkusen.
