Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala is eager for a repeat performance against Celtic Glasgow during the Champions League playoff return match tonight at 21:00 (Prime Video). This comes eight months after his memorable experience in the 5:1 victory against the Scottish national team in the Euro 2024 opener.
Reflecting on that match, Musiala described it as one of his favorites, stating, „I had a lot of fun; it was one of my favorite games in my career so far. After a while, we found our rhythm, and it was a lot of fun—hopefully, it will be similar this time.“
Following Bayern’s 2:1 win in the first leg against Celtic last week, a draw would be sufficient for advancement to the knockout stage. However, Musiala emphasized the importance of striving for a victory, saying, „We need to be 100 percent there, we cannot let up, we must start strong—and we hope to win.“
Musiala has been in the spotlight recently due to his announced contract extension with Bayern. He noted the pressure that comes with his performance, saying, „I have always been very self-critical since I was young. I always look at what I can improve. Therefore, I know the pressure and put it on myself.“ He revealed that he is learning to avoid social media comments to alleviate some of that pressure.
As a 38-time national team player, Musiala is a central figure under coach Julian Nagelsmann. He also commented on his former campus colleague Nicolas Kühn, who is making a name for himself at Celtic Glasgow. Musiala praised Kühn’s development, saying, „He played great against us, was also with me at the campus in the 2016/17 season. We talked a lot, had games together, and he has a great character. I am glad that he has developed so wonderfully.“ When asked about Kühn’s potential inclusion in the national team, Musiala responded, „Everything is possible. Julian has many players to choose from.“
