Before the international match of the German U21 national team against Spain, a 13-year-old boy enchanted the crowd. Alwin, a talent from „The Voice Kids,“ performed the German national anthem at the stadium in Darmstadt. Approximately 16,500 spectators watched and listened intently.
He expressed some nervousness but also recognized the great opportunity, as he stated earlier in an interview with Sat.1. The words of praise from the German U21 camp brought joy to the young singer from Münster, who wore a white German jersey during the anthem.
“To sing the German national anthem live in the stadium at an international match is simply a big deal. I am very happy that Alwin from my #VoiceKids team gets to experience this unique moment,” said singer and songwriter Wincent Weiss beforehand. “At the same time, I find it incredibly brave of him.”
The match in Darmstadt serves as the last official preparation game for the German Football Association before the EM finals. The U21 European Championship will take place from June 11 to 28, 2025, in Slovakia. The German team will face Slovenia (June 12), Czech Republic (June 15), and England (June 18) in Group B, with the top two teams qualifying for the quarter-finals.
